Sometimes you need to take a break from the hard work of writing a (semi) serious novel and do something silly. This was today's exercise:
CATS
To the tune of “Girls” by Beastie Boys
New words by A.F.T Bowen
Cats, all I really want is cats
And in the morning it’s cats
‘Cause in the evening it’s cats
I like the way they have fur,
And it’s chill to hear them purr.
And they’ve been worshipped for a while,
From Greek temples to the Nile.
Back in the day,
There were some cats around the way.
One had some stripes and one was grey,
They’d like to eat a fish filet,
They asked for treats, I said okay.
They took a nap and then they played,
And they always catch their prey,
They kill a mousie every day.
I hope they’ll stay,
They’ll have a bed in which to lay,
I’ll bring them dinner on a tray.
I should have probably guessed they’re stray,
I rescued them with no delay,
And now they’ll never go away.
I am their personal valet,
Yet I can’t get them to obey.
And now I scoop litter to my dismay.
Cats, they eat the fishes
Cats, to sleep in my room
Cats, they sleep on laundry
Cats, and in the bathroom
Cats, that’s all I really want is cats
Two at a time I want cats
Even with hairballs I want cats
I gotta clean up those -
Cats, cats, cats, cats, cats
Cats, cats, cats, cats, cats
Cats, cats, cats, cats, cats, yeah!
🤣
