It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

No, I’m not talking about kids jingle belling and everyone telling you ‘Be of good cheer”. I mean corn shocks and wheat sheaves, air as crisp as falling leaves, harvest moons and spooky nights, scary tales and sharing frights – in other words, October!! This is my favorite month of the year. The weather is cooler, the fall colors are beautiful, and you can dress any way you want without people looking at you funny. (Well, maybe only in the second half of the month.)

It’s interesting how we all have certain times of year we like more than others. I know a lot of people who adore the summer and spending days melting on the sand by the ocean. I do love the ocean – off the rocky, pine covered coast of Maine, anyway – but I’d rather be crunching my boots through golden leaves in a sun dappled wood, just warm enough in a fleece jacket to fend of the nippy air.

Others adore the colorful rise of spring with daffodils, hyacinth, and fuzzy bunnies. Then there are the hardy souls who love snow sports, gifts, and the abundant food of the gorging season otherwise known as November/December. They all have their charms, but it’s still October for me!

There are costumes and candy, and black cats and magic, leaf piles and bonfires, and ghosts in the attic, little brown bats that are flapping their wings, these are a few of my favorite things!
